Amongst the need for inspirational work from home spaces during the COVID era, Krisna Cheung Architects completed the design of ‘Colour Shingle’, a striking studio garage located in North Melbourne. The standout feature of this project is its façade, adorned with pastel-coloured PERSPEX® Frost shingles, which infuse the studio with a lively, polychromic atmosphere during the day and transform it into a captivating lightbox of colour by night.
The decision to utilise PERSPEX® Frost acrylic was not only deliberate but strategic. In addition to offering a wide range of sophisticated colour options, the material comes with a durable 10-year exterior warranty, ensuring longevity and reliability in various weather conditions. Moreover, the double-sided ‘anti-fingermark’ matte surface of PERSPEX® Frost serves to enhance light diffusion, resulting in a softer and more inviting overall glow, further enhancing the studio’s ambiance.
