Mitchell’s Diamond Year Celebrations Continue!

On Friday 2^nd August, we hosted a special lunch to celebrate 75 years in business.

The outdoor lunch was attended by the Mitchell team as well as key suppliers who have worked alongside us to create our successful, long-lasting, people centric, and Australian owned business.

Attendees gathered to enjoy customised cupcakes, barista made coffee, and old school video arcade games!

There were two presentations to Mitchells by Laminex Group and Mayor Jenna Davey-Burns and Councilman George Hua from the City of Kingston.

From 1949, to 2024, and beyond!

This year is as much about reflecting on the past, as it is about investing in the future.

In 1949, Alex Mitchell started “Payntfast”, a small family business in Flinders Street, Melbourne. Peter Mitchell joined his father in 1954 and in 1957 Alex and Peter worked together to develop a cut-to-size Laminex operation. In 2001, Mitchell’s expanded its’ operations by establishing Mitchell Plastics, becoming the exclusive Australian and New Zealand Distributor for Perspex®.

Fast forward to 2024 and you will find Peter’s children Brett, Marcus and Shane Mitchell continuing to work in the business, Mitchell Group Australia.

What’s next at Mitchells?

We have just launched our new website which has been designed to inspire current and future innovators in the building and construction space in Australia. Our focus has been on procuring products that are designed to achieve the ideal equilibrium between “eco” considerations and consistent performance. Examples include locally made EchoPanel® products which are manufactured from high-quality recycled materials such as post-consumer PET plastic, and Perspex®re (Recycled Acrylic) which is crafted from 100% recycled MMA.

In addition to supplying high-quality acoustic and acrylic materials, we are increasing our precision cutting and design services.
